BACK LINE BREAKS.
This video breaks down how stepping into the ball breaks the back line, and why that moment creates a consistent opportunity if you understand what happens behind you.
Every time you step out and the center-back follows, the line breaks vertically, and when it breaks, a gap opens behind the defender. The defensive response should be immediate, the back four rebuilds into a three behind the challenge to secure the space, but when that reaction is slow, the structure stays exposed.
That’s where the opportunity is.
At your level, the three is often delayed, which means the space behind you remains open longer than it should. Instead of seeing this as pressure, it becomes something you can use. The layoff into midfield, especially to a player arriving facing forward, allows you to play into that broken structure with control and minimal touches.
